Cagayan de oro Adventure Race

The 1st Cagayan de Oro Adventure Race (CDOAR)

Preliminary Race Information

"The CDOAR is a race of tolerance. It transcends physical fitness and the individual; its very essence lies in team dynamics and the ability to solve problems under constant stress, including sleep deprivation and limited food in a predetermined course designed to favor the sharp and the quick".

Overview

The competitors must possess a wide variety of outdoor skills including navigation and the technical skills associated with race disciplines.

Each team of six, comprised of four racers (at least one of the opposite sex) and two support crew, will race non-stop over a 150 km. mixed urban and countryside course. It's a race against time, pitting the forces of Nature against the skill and experience of the racers.

The course remains secret to all competitors until a number of hours prior to the start of the race. Teams are told only the disciplines and skill requirements they must possess in order to compete.

The race takes about two days to complete. Teams leave the starting line and navigate through numerous mandatory passport control points to the finish line as quickly as they can. To be considered officially ranked, all team members must cross the finish line together. Several different routes may be taken; the teams choose their own course as long as each passport control point is passed in order. Strategy and aptitude are as important as physical endurance and technical skills.
